Trade Show/Conference Media Engagement Timeline

6 weeks prior: Good time to start pitching story ideas. Reporters start beginning developing story. 

3 weeks prior: Identify the appropriate media outlet for your story idea. Broadcast media pitches often get overlooked.

2 weeks prior: Pitch stories that need to be embargoed for publication during the trade show or conference

1-week prior: Contact reporters to set up times to get together at the event

Show Daily: The official newspaper of the trade show or conference that covers the “news of the day.” Stories are written in advance and sent to the printer 6 to 7 days prior to the start of the trade show or conference.

2019 Planning

Sit down with reporters in early 2019 and talk through business priorities for the year.
